Be Nice:
Respect one another. Don't bully new members. Also, try to have some sympathy for the staff. We don't always see eye to eye but we do our best and we're willing to improve provided you approach us with constructive criticism.
Be Clear:
Please be certain your topics and posts are succinct and to the point. Unclear or otherwise misleading thread titles such as "Oh my Gawd!" or "Lookit what I found!" create confusion and make it difficult to browse the section. Moderators may rename your thread title if they find it necessary.
Off-Topic:
Try and keep the discussion on-topic as much as possible. If a thread gets out of hand, leave it be, and contact a staff member. If the topic means nothing to you, then stay out. Do not make snide, dismissive or otherwise disruptive remarks.
Spam:
Do not repeatedly double post or post trite (unrelated animated gifs, motivational posters, generally less than contributory rhetoric and/or nonsensical strings of words) to raise post count or be an annoyance.
Thread Bumping:
Do not post in a thread that's died out with the sole intent of keeping it active. If it's on the second page (or even the bottom half of the first) and you don't have anything good to say, don't reply to it.
SCREAMING:
Don't go screaming for a solution (Screaming? How do I do that in a text-based discussion?). For example, the excessive use of caps. TEXT WRITTEN LIKE THIS is extremely annoying, and you will annoy the other users. If you ever want to make yourself clear then you just accentuate a particular piece of text. Stay true to the netiquette and keep your use of caps in check.
Flaming/Baiting:
We encourage civil disagreement. Just because somebody sees things differently, doesn't mean you should take offense or engage in tangential personal attacks. Stick to the topic at hand, try not to target forum individuals or segments of the community as a whole.
This includes but is not limited to: ridiculing someone's post, questioning their intelligence, baiting (enticing someone to flame) and otherwise straightforward name-calling.
Trolling:
Purposefully acting in such a way as to provoke an emotional response from others. Don't do it.
Racism, Cultural Intolerance, Gender and Sexual Orientation Discrimination:
Racism, maliciously inappropriate remarks pertaining to cultures, gender, sexual orientation or other degrading remarks are strictly forbidden.
Raids:
Do not use these boards to organize groups with the intent of sabotaging other forums or our own.
Reputation System Abuse:
"Repwhoring"
Getting involved in a circle of friends to rep each other as much as possible and/or continually asking for rep, either with or without contributing something to be repped for. Basically, if we see that you are repping people back for no other reason than to boost their rep amounts the staff will intervene as we see fit. Even if it is only back and forth between two people. Repwhoring may include, but is not limited to . . .
Rep me and I'll rep you back signatures or avatars. (Sets that suggest repwhoring or “Rep me” are up for interpretation.)
Making threads asking for people to rep you.
Posting “REP ME” or any variants that are synonymous to it in any and all threads on the boards.
Asking for rep via different mediums (IMs, PMs, rep messages, etc.)
Leaving nothing but or almost nothing but negative reputation comments for people in general or for the same member.
Gang negging – getting a group of two or more people to go and neg one or more people.
Going into opposing Fancblus just to neg one of its members or associates. There is no reason to go into an opposing faction and neg for something you don't agree with when you shouldn't be there in the first place.
Using flaming, cursing, and insults in reputation comments.
Acceptable use for positive rep is to reward a post, thread, set, and/or contribution. Acceptable use for negative rep is to disapprove of a post, thread and/or set.
Any other motive for repping (positively or negatively) is rep abuse and is subject to sanction including extended or permanent rep seals, rep disabled, and/or large or complete rep slashes. The staff is given wide discretion, and sometimes complete discretion as to the sanction to be incurred for rep abuse and may include behavior unrelated to the rep abuse when determining said sanction.
No Pornographic Material:
There is absolutely no pornographic material allowed.
This includes the posting of images. Longcat images are not allowed. Linking to websites with such content or writing graphic pornographic content is also not allowed. Posting such material is grounds for a temporary to permanent ban, subject to the severity of the offense and discretion of the moderators.
All cases regarding questionable material will be dealt with on a case by case basis by the staff.
No Illegal Activities:
Links to websites that contain illegal games/movies, pornographic sites, sites with grotesque, violent and/or racist content are NOT to be posted.
For posting of these sites you will be banned, no questions asked.
Discussions and questions about things like MP3 and DiVX are allowed to a certain extent. MP3 and DiVX are file formats/codes and those are not illegal, their content however, can be illegal. If anything, try and use logic when posting links to such downloads. (BitTorrent downloads to anime and manga are allowed.)
Duplicate Accounts:
Nine out of ten times, dupe accounts are used for ban evasion, rep abuse, cheating in forum polls or contests, or some other form of questionable activity. Therefore, our policy is to perm ban all dupe accounts. Duping may also lead to a ban on your main account.
Avatars and Signatures:
Maximum size is 150x200 for avatars and Signatures is unlimited.
Any type of pornography is prohibited in avatars and signatures. Anything sexually explicit but not pornographic must be placed under spoiler tags. Other inappropriate images which include racism, flaming/flamebaiting, etc. will also be removed or spoiler tagged. Seizure images are not allowed on NarutoForums, this includes signatures and avatars. All avatars and signatures are subject to censorship upon the discretion of the staff if the staff deems your signature as inappropriate.
Images:
When an image moves the forum out of proportion please link it or spoiler tag it. In addition, any uploading or posting any inappropriate or pornographic material is prohibited and can result in a permanent ban.
Advertisements:
If you want to advertise your forum and/or website, put the link in your profile. You can share advertisements OUTSIDE of Mafia House. Advertisements are NOT tolerated. Do not repeatedly VM or PM members or post links to your forum and/or website.
"Easy money" topics like pyramid games, banner click systems, chain letters etc. etc. are not tolerated in this forum, topics of such nature will be removed. If you see advertisements or adbots about, please report it or contact a staff member.
Personal Affairs:
Personal affairs (Example: Problems with other members) are NOT to be fought out via the forums. If you have some kind of problem with someone, use an instant messenger program like MSN, ICQ or AIM. You can also always e-mail each other, or use the PM function.
The forum and its members have no part in it, so don't make them be your audience.
